Students prepare to conduct a biological stream study in Snowy Creek.

Using a kicknet students begin their collection of benthic macro-invertebrates.

Huddled around the net they begin to identify the variety of species they have collected.

Students use magnifying tools to take a closer look at the species they found.

Mr. Yoder, from Trout Unlimited, taught students about how to care for the trout that will be arriving as part of the Trout in the Classroom Project.

Students helped Mr. Yoder and Mrs. Hordubay set up the trout tank. Now we wait for the trout eggs to be delivered.

On Friday, December 8 the eggs arrived! The eggs that Mr. Spurr brought looked healthy and were immedicately ready to be placed in the tank.

Mr. Spurr and Mrs. Hordubay showed the kids the eggs prior to putting them in the tank.

Students were very excited when the eggs started to hatch.

As the alevin grow they eat their sac for nutrients.

Students monitor the water including the temperature, pH, and ammonia levels.

Students document their findings and review the data.
