The Garrett County Board of Education voted on January 12, 2021, to accept the Superintendent’s recommendation to remain in the “red model” in which students are learning virtually. Students will begin transitioning back to in-person learning when the Garrett County metrics are at 5% or less positivity rate and 15 or less per 100,000 for 14 consecutive days.

There have been 1,689 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Garrett County. Current metrics from the Garrett County Health Department are: 7-Day Positivity Percentage: 14.6%; 7-Day Case Rate Per 100,000: 51.2.

I substitute taught for 3 and an academic intervention teacher for a year. Currently I am and instructional assistant in kindergarten and loving it! Love all my Bobcats and spending time with them every week.

Patricia Martin, Kindergarten

Miss Martin is a native of Garrett County. She attended Red House Elementary School, graduated from Southern Garrett High School and Garrett College. Miss Martin has a bachelor's and master's degree from Frostburg University and has taught for twenty-three years, all in Garrett County. She taught at Crellin and Red House from 1979-991, substituted elevin years at various schools, was a math resource teacher at Broad Ford for eight years, and is now working as an instructional assistant in Kindergarten.
Miss Martin enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to country music, and watching baseball, football, and hockey. Her favorite teams are the Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
