The Garrett County Board of Education voted on January 12, 2021, to accept the Superintendent’s recommendation to remain in the “red model” in which students are learning virtually. Students will begin transitioning back to in-person learning when the Garrett County metrics are at 5% or less positivity rate and 15 or less per 100,000 for 14 consecutive days.

There have been 1,750 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Garrett County. Current metrics from the Garrett County Health Department are: 7-Day Positivity Percentage: 11.92%; 7-Day Case Rate Per 100,000: 30.03.

Mrs. Kimberly Weimer loves the Garrett County School System! She attended Dennett Road Elementary, Southern Middle School and graduated from Southern Garrett High. Mrs. Weimer graduated from Allegany Community College with a degree in Computer Science just two years after high school until she took a one year hiatus from school to make appearances all over our state after she won the title of Miss Maryland, 1990. Shortly after relinguishing that honor, she married her high school sweetheart, Mike Weimer. Immediately, she continued her education at Frostburg State University where she holds a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. She has 30+ additional graduate credit hours in Reading courses because she loves teaching children to read! Mrs. Weimer has two daughters, Raeslee and Kamrin. She loves theatre, music and sports. Mrs. Weimer is a lead vocalist with the local band "The Remedy".

Erin Yoder is beginning her teaching career at Broad Ford this year as she recently graduated from Lancaster Bible College in May of 2018 with a double major. In her free time, she enjoys reading, trying out new coffee shops, exersice, and spending time with her husband Gabe and dog Cooper.
