The Garrett County Board of Education voted on January 12, 2021, to accept the Superintendent’s recommendation to remain in the “red model” in which students are learning virtually. Students will begin transitioning back to in-person learning when the Garrett County metrics are at 5% or less positivity rate and 15 or less per 100,000 for 14 consecutive days.

There have been 1,760 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Garrett County. Current metrics from the Garrett County Health Department are: 7-Day Positivity Percentage: 11.02%; 7-Day Case Rate Per 100,000: 20.19.

Lynda Savopoulos

Lynda Savopoulos is entering her seventh year as a teacher at BraodFord Elementary. She received her BA in early childhood education and her Masters in reading from Frostburg University. In total, this will be Mrs. Savopoulos fifth year teaching and she loves incorporating movement and music into her lessons. In her free time, she likes to cheer on The Ravens and rebuilding fast cars with her husband, Evan.

Michelle Ross

This is Mrs. Ross's first year teaching at Broadford and is very excited to be teaching the first grade! Mrs. Ross has a BA in Liberal Studies from Frostburg State University and she obtained her BS in Elementary Education seven years ago from WGU.
Mrs. Ross was born and raised in Oakland. She lives in Pleasant Valley with her husband Andy. She has two athletic daughters, Isabella 13 and Brooklyn 9, who keep her very busy. She loves her family and being active. She believes that all children have the ability to be a shining star!

Rhonda Sweitzer

Mrs. Sweitzer has taught for twenty-one years at Broad Ford Elementary School. She began her career in Garrett County as a math specialist. She has also taught fourth and second grades. She really loves teaching first grade and has done that for twelve years.
Mrs. Sweitzer feels very blessed to be the mother of five children. She has two older sons and then three little ones that keep her very busy! Her middle child is her only daughter and her two youngest are twin boys! She also has a three year old grandson that has a very special place in her heart! She and her husband Mike live in Swanton with their three little ones. As a family they enjoy cooking, raising a garden, building things, four wheeling, and caring for all of their animals.
