MEETING OF THE GARRETT COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION

Part I – Call to Order
Mr. Tom Carr, President, called the special monthly meeting of the Board of Education to order at 5:20 p.m. Also in attendance were Mrs. Charlotte Sebold, Vice President; Dr. Donald Forrester, and Mrs. Cynthia Downton, associate members; and Mrs. Sue Waggoner, Interim Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Rodney Durst, Associate Member was not present but available via phone, if needed. The meeting was held at the Board of Education central office.
Part II - Executive Session
Upon a motion by Dr. Forrester, seconded by Mr. Sebold, the Board of Education unanimously agreed to move to executive session at 5:21 p.m. in accordance with Public Law 4-106 and Section 10-508 of the State Government Code for the purpose of discussing personnel matters affecting one or more individuals. Board members discussed items that included appointments and a rescission of employment.
Mr. Keith Harvey, Director of Human Resources, and Mr. Larry McKenzie, Director of Finance, were present during all or part of the Executive Session.
Part IV –Re-Opening of Public Session
The Board reconvened in public session at 6:43 p.m.
Part XI – Personnel Recommendations
Mrs. Waggoner recommended approval of the following personnel matters:
· Appointments: Jennifer Windle, Teacher, NX, eff. 08/18/11
Karen Ray, Case Manager, NH, eff. 08/18/11
Sara Cosner, Teacher, FV, eff. 08/18/11
Heidi McMillian, Instructional Assistant, DR, eff. 08/18/11
Marcus Rugg, Instructional Assistant, FV, eff. 08/18/11
Shannon Bittinger, Instructional Assistant, BF ,eff. 08/18/11
Emily Sisler-Stark, Instructional Assistant, DR, eff. 08/18/11
Timothy Sines, Jr., Custodian IV, based as NH, eff. 08/17/11
· Rescission of Employment: Christy Pape, Custodian IV, NH/AC
Upon a motion by Dr. Forrester, seconded by Mrs. Downton, the Board of Education unanimously approved the interim superintendent’s recommendations.
Part XIV – Adjourn
The Board adjourned the meeting at 6:45 p.m.
